Job summary

Western Union is seeking a Senior Officer, Operational Risk to strengthen the risk framework and partner with business areas to identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risks. The role emphasizes a strong risk culture, regulatory compliance, and oversight of digital assets initiatives.

The candidate will lead RCSA activities, monitor KRIs and incidents, and prepare executive risk reports. English proficiency is required; Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 5+ years in Operational Risk, Internal Controls, Audit, Compliance, or ERM in banking/fintech.
• Solid understanding of operational risk management principles.
• Experience with RCSA, KRIs, loss management, incident management.
• Knowledge of Brazilian regulatory requirements for financial institutions.
• Experience with data analytics tools (Power BI, SQL, Python).

Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Officer, Operational Risk you will be responsible for strengthening the Operational Risk Framework, partnering with business areas to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate operational risks while supporting a strong risk culture and regulatory compliance.

• Collaborate with the First Line of Defense to identify, assess, monitor, and periodically review operational risks and controls.


• Support the Operational Risk Management Framework.


• Lead and coordinate Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA) across business areas.


• Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), operational loss events, incidents, and remediation plans.


• Perform risk assessments for new products, projects and strategic business initiatives.


• Support operational resilience, business continuity, incident management.


• Prepare risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and governance committees.


• Support risk management activities related to, Digital Assets/cryptocurrencies.


• Conduct risk awareness sessions, workshops, and training initiatives to strengthen risk culture across the organization.

Role Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Accounting, or a related field.


• 5+ years of experience in Operational Risk, Internal Controls, Audit, Compliance, or Enterprise Risk Management within banking, financial services, payments, foreign exchange, or fintech.


• Solid understanding of operational risk management principles and methodologies.


• Experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), operational loss management, incident management.


• Knowledge of Brazilian regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions.


• Exposure to cryptocurrency, stablecoins, digital assets, or blockchain-related products is highly desirable.


• Experience preparing management and executive-level risk reporting.


• Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python, or similar).


• Advanced level of English is required.


• Spanish proficiency is considered a plus.

Work Shift
