About the Role

The Senior Logistics Planning Specialist will act as the strategic interface between S&OP, Commercial, Business Development, and Warehouse teams, and the Logistics Operations areas, including First Mile, Last Mile, Reverse Logistics, Cross Border, and bonded warehouse operations. This role is critical for ensuring operational readiness across all logistics partners and 3PLs, focusing on logistics capacity planning and network utilization optimization based on sales forecasts and business inputs. The goal is to translate demand forecasts into actionable capacity, staffing, and cost plans, both for regular and peak periods, securing performance, cost, and service-level targets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Serve as the main liaison between Business teams (S&OP, Commercial, Warehouse) and Logistics Operations teams (First Mile, Last Mile, Reverse, Cross Border).
2. Develop and manage logistics capacity planning across all operations, ensuring cost control and performance optimization in volume allocation across different 3PLs in South America, and ensure capacities are prepared to absorb fluctuations in demand.
3. Align with customs clearance center operations to optimize labor and resource capacity planning based on volume forecasts, ensuring cost and performance targets are met.
4. Analyze real volumes and forecast deviations to refine planning models and improve prediction accuracy.
5. Build and implement new planning methodologies to enhance logistics and transportation forecasting accuracy.
6. Optimize capacity, lead times, and costs to improve logistics efficiency.
7. Track key performance metrics, analyze capacity constraints, and collaborate with teams to maximize SLA achievements while reducing defects and operational costs.
8. Conduct regular reviews of volume allocation across 3PLs to ensure network stability, performance improvements, and cost control.
9. Implement local logistics planning strategies to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and ensure demand-driven capacity allocation.
10. Consolidate planning inputs to create robust short- and long-term projections for cost, capacity, and performance.
11. Support ad-hoc analyses on cost structures, share shifts, and network optimization across logistics providers and channels.
12. Propose and implement scalable planning frameworks and governance routines to improve proactiveness and agility in the supply chain.
13. Track and report on key planning KPIs, ensuring compliance with SLAs and cost targets.

Requirements

1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
2. Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.
3. Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, Economics, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
4. Fluency in Portuguese and English (mandatory); Spanish and Chinese are considered a plus.
5. 5+ years of experience in logistics planning, demand forecasting, or S&OP-related roles.
6. Solid background in logistics operations, preferably in e-commerce environments. Experience in other marketplaces is a plus.
7. Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PLs), especially in performance and cost-sensitive operations.
8. Strong experience with analytics and quantitative skills; ability to build models and translate data into strategic insights.
9. Proficiency in Excel and SQL; knowledge of Python is a plus.
10. Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
11. Familiarity with peak-season planning and scalable logistics operations.
12. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to present analyses and models to senior leadership and stakeholders.
