Thomson Reuters Platform Engineering organization partners with cloud and SaaS providers around the globe to provide world-class computing platforms to our application teams. We are seeking candidates to expand and mature our capabilities in Amazon, Azure, Oracle, and Google clouds, while maintaining a stable and secure ecosystem inside our own hosting centers.

About You:

In this opportunity as a Senior Cloud Engineer, you:

• Have strong technical skills: You easily learn new technologies. You are curious and creative and can adapt to existing tech and envision new ways of doing things.
• You focus on continuous improvement and technical standards: You drive improvements in productivity. You want to learn and develop architectures for new services, prepare technical specifications and set industry best practices.
• You can code: You are comfortable programming in at least one high-level language such as Python, PowerShell, or Ruby and are willing to learn more!
• You are an effective communicator: You can demonstrate effective communication skills to clearly state priorities and provide direction. You can present complex technical information in clear and easy to understand manner to various audiences.
• You have cloud experience: You have work in the cloud and have experience in at least one of the Big Two clouds (Amazon, Azure) and understand how to leverage cloud technologies to manage systems and infrastructure.

About the role:

• We use agile/lean development frameworks likeScrum to manage our work.
• We are driven by quality, not quantity and ensure our services are robust and resilient.
• We automate as much as we can using a heavy integration of pipelines, micro-services, and 3rd party SaaS services and custom software when appropriate.
• We produce a lot of data and work with our analysts to make sense of it.We try to identify trends and find potential issues before they cause problems.
• We understand cloud technologies and platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI.We use their APIs and configuration tools.
  

Required Skills

You are a fit for the role of Senior Cloud Engineer if you have:

• 4+ years progressive technology experience and a drive to build a career working on cloud infrastructure and automation.
• Bachelor of Computer Science or related field; or equivalent level of experience.
• Strong Windows or Linux server administration skills.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud infrastructure in either of the Big Two clouds: AWS or Azure.Relevant experience includes:
  • PipeLines: CodeBuilder, Image Builder, GitHub Actions, etc.
  • EC2/Azure VM
  • S3/Azure Artifacts
  • Security models, roles, and/or policies
• Experience writing and maintaining cloud automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using technologies such as Terraform, BICEP, or CloudFormation.
• Source Code Management skills using Git (GitHub experience is a plus)
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to communicate large, complex designs in easy terms.
• Ability to coach other team members, guide them through complex issues, and help up-skill you and your peers.

Desired Skills

• Experience with HCL BigFix
• Experience with FedRAMP, FIPS and other federal security controls.
• Experience building Machine Images in the cloud.
• A solid understanding of TCP/IP networking.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, ECS/EKS, or AKS
• Experience with OS patch management and patch automation.
