This role offers an opportunity to lead a field engineering team, assisting customers in understanding and deploying Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and private data centers. The scope includes technologies from Ubuntu to virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and advanced open source platforms like MLops and data solutions. As Canonical expands into new industries such as telecom, finance, healthcare, and media, we develop innovative open source solutions tailored to these sectors.
We believe engineering managers should be excellent engineers, comfortable troubleshooting and engaging in technical presales. They should contribute technically but primarily focus on guiding their team’s direction, focus, and output. We support growth in management and soft skills for engineers interested in leadership.
Our mission is to simplify, secure, and enhance the deployment of open source software, aiming to provide the 'most software to most companies.' We select our engineers globally for brilliance and motivation, with our managers empowering teams to exceed expectations and take pride in their achievements.
The team of cloud solutions architects at Canonical works directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions tailored to their workloads. The portfolio includes on-premise solutions like Openstack, MicroCloud, Ceph, and deployable solutions such as Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, and PostgreSQL. Managers oversee deployment, testing, and handover, and participate in presales to advise clients technically.
The manager is responsible for team management, talent development, technical representation, and collaboration with other teams and clients. Active participation in presales is also expected to meet quarterly goals.
This role is home-based, managing a team within your time zone.
