What you will be doing:

The Backend Software Engineer is responsible for designing and maintaining highly scalable backend services within our Product Development team. As a senior member, you will play a crucial role in ensuring projects are strategically aligned with best practices in software design, testing, deployment, and operation. Key responsibilities include actively contributing to architecture in functional areas, ensuring cross-platform compatibility, and collaborating with a diverse team of designers, developers, and product managers. This position offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of our strategic transformation, utilizing a common platform and shared design libraries to build future-oriented solutions. You will leverage your expertise in Java, REST APIs, and microservices architecture to drive success and foster a culture of innovation.

1. Lead the design and development of high-quality, scalable backend services utilizing Java and Microservices Architecture.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers and Designers, to deliver seamless integration and functionality.
3. Implement and maintain REST API services to ensure effective communication between microservices.
4. Utilize intermediate knowledge of Git/GitHub for version control in a collaborative environment.
5. Apply secure coding best practices to safeguard applications against vulnerabilities.
6. Participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers, fostering continuous improvement.
7. Deploy CI/CD pipelines using CircleCI to automate testing and deployment processes.
8. Monitor and optimize application performance, ensuring reliability and efficiency in production.
9. Stay current with industry trends and continuously improve through professional development.

Requirements & Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

1. 4+ years of software engineering experience, with collaboration with Product Managers and Designers.
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
3. Proficient in Java, with the ability to work independently.
4. Experience developing within a microservices architecture, understanding domain-driven design principles.
5. Advanced skills in secure coding practices.
6. Experience with Micronaut or Spring Boot.
7. Experience working with Postgres databases.
8. Experience with Google Cloud.
9. Experience in Agile, SCRUM, or similar processes.
10. Proactive in researching and applying best practices and industry trends.

Nice to have skills

1. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
2. Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker.
3. Familiarity with GraphQL.
4. Certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
5. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
6. Mentoring junior developers and facilitating knowledge sharing.
7. Payments integration experience (Stripe, PayPal, etc.).
8. E-commerce process understanding.
9. Knowledge of security standards like PCI-DSS.
