We're looking for a skilled Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to join our dynamic team.

Join us in building an AI-powered “co-intelligence” for industrial manufacturing, combining data analytics, generative AI, and interactive guidance to help reduce wasted energy and carbon footprint from large manufacturers. You will play a key role in designing and implementing the core business logic behind our user-facing applications, which are daily workflow tools for plant engineers and operators, proactively assembling insights, guiding decisions, and managing complex industrial processes.

You will collaborate closely with data infrastructure engineers, AI engineers, and front-end developers to deliver complete solutions—from early prototypes to production-grade systems. As part of a small, fast-moving team, you'll have broad ownership and the opportunity to contribute across the stack, including infrastructure, data pipelines, and front-end development, based on your skills and interests.

Expectations - the experience you need

1. 10+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years focused on Python backend systems.
2. Proven experience building backend services with complex business logic, including state management, data modeling, and lifecycle orchestration.
3. Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases (e.g., Postgres), schema design, and data workflows.
4. Solid fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
5. Experience building RESTful APIs (and/or GraphQL) and integrating with external systems.
6. Strong testing practices and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
7. Ability to work independently, adapt, and drive work forward in a dynamic startup environment.
8. Excellent communication skills for translating requirements, collaborating, and building consensus.

Nice to have

• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Experience with data-focused backend services for visualizations and analytics.
• Familiarity with Docker, cloud deployments (GCP preferred), and scalable development processes.
• Knowledge of data lifecycle management, data lineage, and maintaining data integrity.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Full-stack development with frameworks like React, Next.js, Typescript.
• Experience with event-driven architectures or message queues (e.g., Pub/Sub).
