About The Role:

The Principal Commodities Research Analyst, Dry Bulk Commodities, will be a key role within the Research & Analytics business line responsible for developing and maintaining market intelligence and research flow for S&P Global Commodity Insight's Commodities at Sea product. The role involves partnering with global teams to provide insights and analysis on dry bulk commodities markets based on data-driven analytics and demand-supply models.

The Team:

We are a multicultural, globe-spanning freight and commodity flow team creating the near-real-time commodity flow tracker CAS (Commodities At Sea). We seek a team member to complement our collaborative process and help build the world’s premier commodity analytics solution.

Responsibilities and Impact:

1. Develop and maintain market intelligence and research flow for the Commodities at Sea product.
2. Create market scenarios and actionable insights for global trade flow.
3. Analyze and interpret current and future trends in dry bulk commodities, including supply and demand analysis.
4. Communicate insights to clients via reports, presentations, calls, emails, and meetings.
5. Collaborate with global teams including the Director, analysts, Data Analytics, and Product Management.
6. Perform tasks as assigned to meet team priorities, providing progress updates.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of commodity market experience, with 3+ years in dry bulk or commodities market analytics.
• Strong numeracy and communication skills, comfortable with large datasets.
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Expertise in dry bulk commodities market analysis, macroeconomics, and demand-supply drivers.
• Excellent relationship-building and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across time zones.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in physical and paper trading.
• Skills in Tableau, Power BI, SQL, and/or Python.
