What You’ll Do

The Senior Data Scientist (pre-sales) is an experienced expert in Data Science, capable of providing industry thought leadership on analytics and its applications across various industries and use cases. The role involves supporting the account team in framing business problems and identifying analytic solutions that leverage Teradata technology, which are innovative, practical, and disruptive. The Senior Data Scientist is a compelling communicator, establishing Teradata as a key partner for advanced analytics and serving as a trusted advisor to executives, senior managers, and fellow data scientists across target accounts. They are also hands-on, ready to deliver proof of concept (PoC) and short-term pre-sales engagements. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of statistics and machine learning, with a proven track record of applying these skills at scale to generate business value. They are naturally curious, a problem solver, and effective at promoting Teradata solutions to customers.

Who You’ll Work With

The successful candidate will collaborate with other experts to:

1. Provide pre-sales support at an executive level to Teradata account teams, helping to position and sell complex analytic solutions that drive software sales.
2. Offer strategic pre-sales consulting to executives and senior managers in target markets.
3. Support PoC and proof of value (PoV) projects demonstrating the viability of analytic use cases and the advantages of Teradata solutions.
4. Work with the extended account and sales analytics teams to develop new analytic propositions aligned with industry trends and customer needs.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

• A degree (preferably Master’s or PhD) in Statistics, Data Science, Physical or Biological Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Proven hands-on experience with complex analytics at scale, such as IoT and sensor data.
• Understanding of PMML and ONNX model standards for model portability.
• Experience with Teradata’s analytical products, cloud services like AzureML and SageMaker, and partner tools such as Dataiku and H2O.
• Strong programming skills in at least one major analytic language or tool, in addition to SQL.
