NTUC First Campus is seeking a part-time Early Childhood Assistant to support teachers in the Yishun learning centres. You will help with small-group activities, monitor progress and reinforce positive learning dispositions under supervision.

Ideal candidates hold ACECCE or equivalent and have at least 3 years of relevant preschool experience, with strong communication skills and a nurturing, patient approach. This role focuses on supportive care and education in a collaborative team setting.

This incumbent will work closely with the class teachers and assist them in supporting various small groups of children at the learning centres. You will assist to facilitate children’s learning and develop positive learning dispositions through positive reinforcement, daily observation and assessment of children under your care.This is a permanent part-time position for the Yishunregion.

Job Responsibilities:

• Deepen strong, trusting and respectful relationships with children though positive interactions

• Support children with learning needs via small group learning and apply principles of diversity and inclusion in interactions and implementation of activities for children

• Make adaptations to curriculum activities and learning materials to scaffold learning based on information gathered about children’s development through observation and documentation

• Implement developmentally appropriate strategies to facilitate learning and develop positive learning dispositions

• Identify potential teaching and learning methods, tools and assistive technology based on emerging trends in the sector

• Partner teachers to customise positive classroom management strategies and ensure the safety of children at all times

• Document and track children’s learning and development, and carry out learning needs assessment

• Track children’s attendance and carries out follow up activities to improve attendance and foster good relationships with parents

• Work closely with centre and child support colleagues to provide integrated care-giving and education for all children, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and collegiality.

• Analyse areas for improvements for professional practice and participate in professional development and service quality improvement activities.

• Follows the health, safety, nutritional and hygiene practices in accordance with standards and procedures

• Any other projects assigned by RO

Job Requirements:

• Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care & Education (ACECCE) or equivalent and at least 3 years of relevant experience in a pre-school setting working with 4-6 year olds

• Has experience in implementing learning activities in small group settings

• Nurturing disposition with patience and passion in working with young children from low income backgrounds

• Able to work independently with minimum supervision

• Good communication skills verbal and written

• Proactive, and a good team player

• Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
