Lead Software Engineer: Automotive Solutions

Cadence Design Systems Inc. is looking for a motivated Lead Software Engineer: Automotive Solutions to work with us in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

As a Lead Software Engineer: Automotive Solutions, you will be part of Automotive Solutions Group and will collaborate with a team of EDA professionals to develop and deliver a product for Functional Safety analysis.

You will work in a motivated, international, and collaborative team that is shaping the direction and development of a holistic Design‑For‑Safety approach that integrates Functional Safety as part of the traditional EDA flow. The software engineer will develop, test, and deliver high‑quality, object‑oriented C++ applications to create maintainable products using a structured development methodology in an Agile, demanding environment. This role will be an integral part of an engineering team that focuses on bringing safety solutions per the ISO26262 and IEC61508 standards to Cadence customers in the fast‑growing Automotive/ADAS markets.

Job Description

• Technically lead the team of software engineers: making technical decisions to define software and architectural solutions.
• Develop and test object‑oriented C++ applications.
• Contribute to the definition of requirements for safety applications and product development.
• Mentor individual contributors to grow the team, develop talent, and retain top performers.

Requirements

• Complete Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of development experience in C/C++ environments.
• Strong understanding of Object‑Oriented Design principles and patterns.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce, SVN), issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA), and a solid understanding of Continuous Delivery/Continuous Integration (CI/CD) DevOps practices in cross‑platform development environments (Microsoft Windows and Linux).
• Familiarity with other programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, TCL).
• Excellent written and spoken English, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Interest and ability to work in a cross‑disciplinary environment to learn and solve complex challenges.
• Passion for building and leading a motivated team, fostering their development and well‑being, and driving them toward success.

Nice To Have

• Experience with the Qt framework.
• Previous experience leading a software development team.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, particularly for desktop applications.
