Lead Security Engineer
ADP is hiring a Lead Security Engineer to design new architectures and maintain existing infrastructure to ensure security controls are met, whilst collaborating closely with our engineers to implement solutions.
Responsibilities
- Be the thought leader for all things security.
- Analyze, simplify, and design a new security model for our product, complete any PoCs and work with a team to implement it.
- Collaborate closely with other squads to coach and understand capability needs and common impediments.
- Lead on removing common impediments.
- Educate and coach others in DevSecOps practices.
- Balance security risk against the other needs of the business.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging security best practices and tools.
- Help embed security into our SDLC.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Understanding of security principles across the product stack, including compute, networking, and storage.
- Good knowledge of AWS, the security well‑architected framework, IAM, and OAuth.
- Key, certificate, and secrets management.
- Programming in .NET to solve security problems.
- Leadership and communication.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering projects from conception to production in an agile environment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience with cloud and DevOps practices.
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud architecture and services.
- Deep understanding of Infrastructure‑as‑Code; familiarity with AWS CDK, Terraform, Pulumi, etc.
- Experience with Prometheus, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, or similar observability tools.
- Proficient in Linux and Windows environments.
- Knowledge of design principles and functional/Object‑Oriented design patterns.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to make informed decisions under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in software development with a focus on cloud‑based applications.
- AWS certifications such as Security Specialty, Solutions Architect, or Developer are a plus.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in the design, development, and delivery of cloud‑based application security.
- Understanding of modern web development.
- Good understanding of modern distributed systems concepts and associated challenges.
- Ability to devise action‑oriented scheduling that leads to delivery.
- Proven ability to partner effectively across functions in complex organizations.
- Patience and dedication to navigate complex environments through product knowledge and leadership style.
- Ability to adapt to change and to identify and focus on what is important (time management and prioritization).
