Full Stack Engineer — Trading Platform (AI-Native)
About Excent Capital
Excent Capital is a market-making FX/CFD brokerage operating across Brazil, Mexico, Seychelles, St. Vincent, the UK and Cyprus — roughly 40 people, seven legal entities, consistently profitable. We are small, fast, and we build our own software instead of renting it: a proprietary trading platform that prices and books client trades, plus the client-facing portal and back-office systems that run around it.
We don't run like a typical brokerage. Engineering decisions are made by people who understand the money. We ship daily. We verify against the database, not against opinions. And we hire people who own outcomes, not tickets.
The mentality
A few things are true about how we work. You should want them to be true before you apply:
- Architect, not driver. We build systems, not heroics. If you're the only person who can run something, that's a bug. Your job is to remove single points of failure — including yourself.
- Execution over ceremony. No status theater, no preamble, no 40-minute standups. Decide, ship, verify, move.
- Empirical, always. The database wins over assumptions. We don't guess column names or data distributions — we query. "I think it works" is not an answer; "here's the proof it works" is.
- Ownership is the whole job. The features you ship touch real client accounts, real deposits, real trading activity — and you're trusted to own their correctness end to end. That trust is the compensation for the autonomy.
- High standards, low drama. We're direct. We pressure-test each other's thinking hard and it's never personal. Wins get acknowledged; gaps get fixed.
The role
You’ll build across the full stack of our trading platform — the client area where our clients register, verify, fund, and manage their accounts, and the back-office system our teams use to operate the brokerage: onboarding, KYC, deposits and withdrawals, account management, IB structures, and reporting.
You take a feature from the API layer to the screen: backend endpoint, data model, front-end UI, and the verification that proves it works. You’ll work alongside the platform’s senior backend owner on anything that touches the money paths — execution, balances, settlement — and you’ll own front‑to‑back delivery on everything around them.
This is a delivery seat on a system with real users and real money behind it. Not "move fast and break things" — we move fast and don’t break things, because we test before we ship.
This is an AI-native role — read this part carefully
Effectively, all execution here is done through Claude Code and similar agentic tools.
What that means in practice:
- You will spend your time specifying, reviewing, and verifying — not hand‑typing every line. You write a tight spec, the agent executes, and you review the output with an engineer’s eye.
- You own everything the agent produces. AI accelerates you; it does not absolve you. If shipped code has a bug, a security hole, or a data‑integrity flaw, that’s yours. "The AI wrote it" is not a sentence we accept.
- The discipline that matters most is rigorous review and empirical verification: reading generated code critically, catching the subtle wrong thing, writing the regression test that fails before the fix and passes after, and never trusting that the tool did what you intended without checking the actual deployed result.
- Our model is multi‑agent: architecture and binary calls are made at the top, reviewing agents handle design and code review, Claude Code executes in the repo — and you drive that loop for your features and are accountable for what reaches production.
If being a force‑multiplied engineer — shipping the output of several engineers because you direct the tools instead of typing — energizes you, this is the best seat you’ll find. If you need to write every line yourself to feel like an engineer, this isn’t your role, and that’s fine.
What you’ll build
- Client‑area features end to end: registration and verification flows, funding journeys, account dashboards, notifications.
- Back‑office tooling: the screens and APIs our operations, finance, and compliance teams use every day.
- Backend endpoints and services in Python/Django, with correct authorisation, clean data models, and tests that prove the behaviour.
- Front‑end interfaces in React/TypeScript that are fast, consistent, and hold up under real operational use.
- Integrations with the systems around the platform — payment providers, CRM, internal reporting.
Must‑haves:
- Solid full‑stack experience: Python (Django/DRF or similar) on the backend and React + TypeScript on the front end. You’re genuinely productive on both sides, not a specialist with a hobby.
- Strong PostgreSQL fundamentals — you can read a query plan, design a sane schema, and you don’t treat the database as a black box behind an ORM.
- A security instinct. Authorisation scoping, input validation, and 'who can see this?' are questions you ask by reflex — this platform holds client identity and financial data.
- Verification discipline. You test what you ship, you check the deployed result, and you can show your work.
- Real experience (or serious, demonstrable enthusiasm) working with AI coding agents — and the judgment to review their output critically.
- Professional working English (our systems and documentation are in English).
Nice to have:
- Fintech, brokerage, payments, or other regulated‑industry background.
- Experience with KYC/onboarding flows or payment provider integrations.
- AWS operational experience.
- Portuguese and/or Spanish.
The first 90 days
- Weeks 1–2: Environment up, first PRs merged — small, real fixes in the client area or back office, reviewed and shipped.
- Weeks 3–6: Own your first feature end to end: spec, backend, front end, tests, deploy. Learn the money paths well enough to know what you must not touch without review.
- By day 90: You’re a trusted full‑stack delivery channel on the platform. Features route to you and ship without hand‑holding, and your review bar is one the team relies on.
