Keppel (Infrastructure Division) is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer for a 2-year contract at a WtE/power plant site in Brazil. The role covers shift leadership, plant safety, and operational optimization across boiler, emissions control, and energy market activities.
You will supervise, coordinate safety procedures, handle permit-to-work processes, and ensure timely response to plant emergencies while maintaining reliable plant performance.
To manage the shift group to optimize plant performance within the agency's regulations and compliance requisite.
To ensure safe, efficient and smooth operation of the plant equipment and machinery so as to achieve the plant objectives.
To coordinate activities and ensure safety procedures in accordance with the permit [1] to-work system such that works can be carried out safely and efficiently.
To monitor and take corrective measures to optimize Plant performance.
To be responsible for the PTWs issued during the shift and ensure proper hand-over of shift regarding works to be followed up, outstanding PTWs, the isolation and normalization of equipment.
To attend to Plant emergencies and make critical decisions to initiate where and when necessary for safe shutdown of plant equipment.
To be in charge of the whole plant including security, weighbridge, refuse reception and transportation of ash and scrap after office hours.
To provide leadership and build a harmonious, committed and motivated team, working cooperatively with management in pursuit of organizational goals.
To bid and optimize sale of energy-to-Energy Market and ensure compliance power generation as determined by Energy Market Company.
To liaise with EMA for timely synchronizing and desynchronizing of Generator.
To perform any other duties as delegated by the Operations Manager or Plant Management.
To assist in the formulation and preparation of operating procedures for operations, maintenance works, equipment testing, plant emergencies and optimisation of the plant's performance.
To provide support to BCP, IQC, R & D, ISO, external and internal audit and any other activities.
To conduct subordinates' performance reviews to determine competency, knowledge and contributions of shift personnel.
To provide supervision, leadership and build a harmonious, committed and motivated team, working cooperatively with management in pursuit of organizational goals.
To be responsible for personnel matters of his staff such as leave attendance, conduct, discipline and provide counselling.
Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisor or plant management.
To provide in-depth training and operational knowledge to the subordinates in line with the plant's succession planning.
5-6 years work experience as Operations Engineer in WtE or power plant industry
Strong technical and O&M expertise in WtE including stoker grates, furnace, steam boilers, flue gas treatment, steam turbine-generator, water and wastewater treatment plant, steam and condensate system, air cooled condenser system, closed loop feedwater system, electrical transmission and distribution system and control and instrumentation system
Skilled in comprehending P&ID, PFD, SLD
Strong experience with LOTO
Has good management mindset
This is a 2 years contract role
