Role Summary
As a Field Service & Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive/corrective maintenance of power quality equipment, energy management systems, SCADA/automation panels, and associated electrical infrastructure at client sites. You will work closely with the Sales & Applications team to provide post-sales technical support and ensure high client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Field Service & Commissioning
- Perform on-site installation, configuration, and commissioning of power quality analysers, energy meters, SCADA panels, and automation systems
- Conduct system integration testing, I/O mapping, and loop checks before handover
- Complete commissioning documentation (FAT/SAT test reports, as-built drawings, site acceptance checklists)
- Provide on-site customer training on system operation and maintenance procedures
2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) programmes for installed systems across the client portfolio
- Diagnose and resolve equipment faults – electrical, instrumentation, communication, and firmware – within agreed SLAs
- Coordinate with OEM/vendor technical support for complex fault resolution
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and spare parts records
3. Power Quality & Energy Management
- Conduct power quality assessments: voltage/current harmonics, power factor, flicker, transients, and unbalance
- Operate PQ analysers (e.g., Fluke, HIOKI, Dranetz) and interpret measurement data
- Support energy audits, load profiling, and energy consumption reporting for client EMS/BMS
- Assist in recommending corrective measures (APF, capacitor banks, UPS, isolation transformers)
4. Technical Support & Documentation
- Provide 1st and 2nd level technical support to clients via phone, remote access, and on-site visits
- Prepare detailed technical reports, maintenance schedules, and root cause analysis (RCA) documents
- Maintain and update wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and system schematics
- Collaborate with the Sales & Applications team on site surveys, tender submissions, and product demonstrations
5. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all site safety requirements (PTW, LOTO, JSA, PPE) and Company's QHSE policies
- Comply with local electrical regulations (e.g., EMA/SP PowerGrid requirements in Singapore, ST regulations in Malaysia)
- Participate in regular toolbox meetings and safety briefings
Requirements
Education & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline (required)
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., SP/EMA Electrical Worker Licence, BCA Green Mark, electrical wiring licence) are a strong advantage
Experience
- Field service / maintenance engineering experience in power systems, industrial automation, or energy management
- Hands-on experience with SCADA systems (e.g., YOKOGAWA Centum/Stardom, Siemens WinCC, Schneider ClearSCADA, Allen Bradley) is highly preferred
- Proven track record in power quality monitoring, PQ analysis, or energy audit projects
- Experience with energy management or building management systems (EMS/BMS/BEMS) is a strong plus
- Familiarity with IEC 61000 power quality standards, IEEE 519, or EN 50160 is advantageous
Technical Skills
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, control wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
- Competent with electrical test equipment: multimeters, PQ analysers, oscilloscopes, insulation testers, and earth loop testers
- Basic programming or configuration skills in PLC/HMI/SCADA (ladder logic, function block, structured text) is advantageous
- Computer literacy: MS Office, AutoCAD (basic), remote access tools (TeamViewer, VPN)
Personal Attributes
- Strong problem-solving skills with a systematic, detail-oriented approach to fault diagnosis
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills in English (Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia is a plus for regional clients)
- Customer-oriented mindset with a professional and positive attitude
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, or on electrical panels
- Possess or willing to obtain a valid Singapore driving licence (Class 3)
Work Arrangement
- Based in Singapore – Woodlands area office/workshop
- Regional travel required: Malaysia (frequent), Indonesia and Thailand (occasional)
- May require occasional weekend or off-hours work for site handovers or emergency call-outs
- Overtime and travel allowances provided in accordance with company policy
