Aurora Energy Research in São Paulo offers an energy-market modelling internship for an enthusiastic undergraduate student. You will develop analytical tools, work with data, and contribute to modelling methodologies to support client decision making.

You will collaborate with research and consulting teams, gain coaching, and learn to communicate insights effectively. Fluency in English and programming familiarity (Python) are valued in top universities.

Description

Based in São Paulo, you will contribute to our energy modelling efforts by developing analytical and computational tools, enhancing our modelling methodology, analysing data, formulating recommendations on future trends, and conveying insights to enhance clients’ decision making.

This internship focuses on modelling energy commodities markets, particularly electricity. It is open to students currently enrolled in undergraduate programs (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Molecular Sciences, Economics, and other quantitative fields at top-tier universities).

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with our research and consulting teams to derive insights from model results
• Contribute to continuously improving how the modelling team operates.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required attributes:

• Enrolment in undergraduate programs in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Molecular Sciences, Economics, or other quantitative fields
• A genuine enjoyment of working through complex problems and the ability to explain your reasoning clearly
• Familiarity with at least one programming language, such as Python or similar
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Fluent English

Desirable attributes:

• Experience working with quantitative data through coursework, projects, or internships, including analysing data and drawing insights
• An interest in energy markets and how well-designed models improve real-world decisions
• An interest in statistical and/or optimization techniques.
• Comfortable using AI tools to support coding and analysis, with a critical eye for reviewing AI-generated outputs
