Aurora Energy Research invites applications for an Energy Modelling Intern based in São Paulo, Brazil. You will develop and maintain energy market models, work with research and consulting teams, and help enhance modelling processes within a dynamic, international environment.

Ideal candidates are undergraduates in quantitative fields, proficient in Python, with strong communication skills and fluent English, eager to solve complex problems and learn from experienced mentors.

Qualificações

• Enrolment in undergraduate programs in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Molecular Sciences, Economics, or other quantitative fields
• Genuine enjoyment of working through complex problems and ability to explain reasoning clearly
• Familiarity with at least one programming language, such as Python or similar
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Fluent English

Energy Modelling Intern

Description

Application Period: From 21 September until 16 October

Based in São Paulo, you will contribute to our energy modelling efforts by developing analytical and computational tools, enhancing our modelling methodology, analysing data, formulating recommendations on future trends, and conveying insights to enhance clients’ decision making.

This internship focuses on modelling energy commodities markets, particularly electricity. It is open to students currently enrolled in undergraduate programs (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Molecular Sciences, Economics, and other quantitative fields at top-tier universities).

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Aurora’s suite of energy market models.
• Collaborate with our research and consulting teams to derive insights from model results
• Contribute to continuously improving how the modelling team operates.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required attributes

• Enrolment in undergraduate programs in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Molecular Sciences, Economics, or other quantitative fields
• Genuine enjoyment of working through complex problems and the ability to explain your reasoning clearly
• Familiarity with at least one programming language, such as Python or similar
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Fluent English

Desirable attributes

• Experience working with quantitative data through coursework, projects, or internships, including analysing data and drawing insights
• An interest in energy markets and how well-designed models improve real-world decisions
• An interest in statistical and/or optimization techniques.
• Comfortable using AI tools to support coding and analysis, with a critical eye for reviewing AI-generated outputs
