Job Summary:

We are seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to design and implement hardware control systems for drones and robotic dogs. The role involves working with PX4 and Unitree hardware platforms, ensuring efficient integration of sensor data streams and control outputs tailored to specific hardware embodiments.

This position requires close coordination with Python-based foundation models, as the core model interface must reside in Python.

This is a full-time, fully remote opportunity. You will work as part of a Scrum team, collaborating closely with other software engineers, stakeholders, and contributors. Working within the US timezone is required, and active participation in meetings and decision-making processes is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and optimize embedded systems for PX4-based drones and Unitree robotic dogs.
2. Implement real-time processing of sensor data streams (e.g., RGB video, audio, IMU).
3. Design and test hardware actuator interfaces for seamless control execution.
4. Collaborate with AI teams to integrate foundation models into hardware platforms.
5. Ensure seamless integration and real-time execution of Python-based foundation models across embedded systems.
6. Create comprehensive documentation covering hardware configurations, API endpoints, data handling procedures, control loop integration, and deployment instructions.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in embedded systems programming (e.g., C/C++, Python).
• Experience working with Python-based systems for API integration and model orchestration.
• Experience with PX4 Autopilot and Unitree hardware platforms.
• Strong understanding of sensor integration and real-time data processing.
• Knowledge of hardware actuator interfaces and control systems.
• Familiarity with ROS-based simulators and API integration.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize embedded systems for performance and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SLAM and VIO technologies.
• Familiarity with Hugging Face APIs and OpenAI real-time streaming APIs.
• Knowledge of modular hardware design and SWaP optimization.
• Background in robotics or drone development.
