Job Description
To further develop the end-to-end Ocean Freight Services product in the marketplace through focus on Operations, Finances, Sales, People, Systems, and Culture in adherence to the company’s policy and procedures.
- Create and maintain an effective department organization chart, which is designed for flexibility and growth.
- Prepare, execute, monitor and update the department business plan at regular intervals.
- Monitor and improve key departmental productivity.
- Review and support with day-to-day quotations
- Support product with checking local charges and agreement quotes to ensure we minimize potential branch losses.
- Thorough knowledge of end-to-end ocean freight services, covering import and export accros all products, including FCL and LCL.
- Plan and support with huddles and monthly meetings to discuss market intelligence and delegate workloads within the team.
- Attend the weekly branch Sales meeting and facilitate discussions on Ocean Freight Services with market updates and trends.
- Take an active role in the transition of new business/ updates to existing business.
- Be open to implementing new system changes and enhancements into your department.
- Be involved and suggest system/process improvements.
- Grow department Revenue in line with District budget target and management expectations.
- Ensure that the department is showing clean financial accounting throughout all financial reports.
- Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainings.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors (Shipping lines, trucking companies, and others)
- Review and conduct staff appraisals and one on one meeting timely in line with the 3+1 Initiative
- Assist supervisor and key staff with goal setting and monitoring development.
Qualifications
- University or equivalent business qualifications
- Minimum 15years Expeditors’ or industry related experience, of which a minimum 3 years in a leadership position with a team management experience
- Proven problem solving, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
