Job Description -

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with a strong background in software development (JAVA) on Unix platforms. The specialist will undergo one month of intensive training to become a Migration SME (Subject Matter Expert) and will then be assigned to a specific migration stream. This role requires effective collaboration with functional SMEs to plan and execute large-scale migrations. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with Autosys batch scheduling, CI/CD tools, and troubleshooting software deployments. They should be proficient in environment setup, testing, migration execution, and automation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Complete intensive 1-month training to become a Migration SME
2. Work with functional SMEs to plan, coordinate, and execute migrations
3. Set up lower environments based on provided specifications
4. Deploy software using CI/CD tools and ensure smooth software rollouts
5. Execute UAT and production parallel tests, analyze results and troubleshoot discrepancies
6. Troubleshoot build failures, deployment failures, and testing failures during migration
7. Follow firm’s change management procedures to ensure compliance and risk mitigation
8. Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure
9. Manage and configure Autosys instances and Procmon master (GS product) for migrations
10. Optimize batch processing workflows
11. Troubleshoot and resolve job failures in the new platform
12. Develop detailed migration plans, including risk assessment and rollback strategies
13. Conduct pre-mortem calls to review migration plans and remediate potential challenges
14. Execute migrations in a structured and controlled manner, ensuring minimal downtime
15. Perform post-migration validation and checks to confirm system stability

➢Tool & Utility Development:

1. Develop utilities and automation tools to streamline the migration process
2. Enhance migration efficiency through custom scripts and automation frameworks
3. Work closely with functional SMEs, developers, QA teams and infrastructure engineers
4. Communicate migration timelines, risks, and status updates to stakeholders
5. Document processes and provide knowledge transfer to relevant teams

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

1. At least 5 years of experience in software development and DevOps, including 2+ years as a DevOps Engineer
2. ➢Core Technical Skills:
3. Strong Unix/Linux expertise, including Perl/shell scripting and system administration
4. Working experience using Autosys batch scheduling system e.g. creating and maintaining autosys jobs, troubleshooting job failures etc.
5. Experience with migration of batch processing systems or similar projects
6. Strong troubleshooting skills for build failures, testing issues and deployment errors
7. Ability to execute UAT and production parallel tests, compare results and identify discrepancies
8. Experience in environment setup and software deployment in lower environments
9. Familiarity with test automation frameworks and debugging methodologies
10. Experience in creating detailed migration plans and executing them successfully
11. Ability to run pre-mortem calls, identify potential migration risks and mitigate issues
12. Understanding of IT change management processes and best practices
13. Strong shell scripting skills for automation
14. Experience in building custom tools/utilities to support migration efforts
15. Exposure to IaC (Infrastructure as code) tools like terraform (preferred)
16. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
17. Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams
18. Ability to document processes and train stakeholders as needed
19. Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to challenges

Tools Candidate should be well versed with the following tools to be successful in their day-to-day duties:

1. Familiarity with Eclipse/IntelliJ
2. Knowledge of scripting languages like Shell/Python/Perl
3. Knowledge of programming languages like Core Java or similar
4. Knowledge of working with Unix environment
5. Some knowledge of database management systems (e.g., Sybase)
6. Exposure to scheduling tools like Autosys, Control-M, Cron etc.
7. Familiarity with SDLC tools, Change Management, Version Control etc.
8. Certification in Autosys or related technologies.
