Description

Computer Aided Design & Drafting (CAD/CAM/CAE) work involves the documentation, illustration, and digital modeling of engineering designs and processes, including:

1. Assessing engineering requirements and translating them into technical blueprints, drawings, layouts, and simulation models using CAD/CAM/CAE software.
2. Applying standard CAD/CAM/CAE techniques to digitize, edit, and revise engineering drawings of components, parts, and assemblies.
3. Customizing CAD/CAM/CAE software to model complex or unusual designs.
4. Creating digital prototypes and conducting design simulations to verify reliability and safety, and to optimize engineering processes.
5. Collaborating with product and manufacturing process engineers by recommending design modifications based on digital prototypes and simulation outcomes.
6. Providing materials lists and cost estimates as needed.

A Senior Professional (P3) applies advanced knowledge of the field, typically gained through higher education and extensive work experience. Responsibilities may include managing projects or processes, working independently with limited supervision, coaching and reviewing the work of junior professionals, and solving difficult and complex problems.
