Job summary

Jobgether is seeking an experienced Backend Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications and microservices in a fully remote role based in Brazil. The candidate will work with Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, Node.js, and Python, with AWS cloud services and container orchestration in Kubernetes.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, estimate tasks, and contribute to scalable, secure software solutions in a fast-paced financial tech environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Systems Analysis, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid professional experience as a Backend Developer or Backend Systems Analyst.
• Experience with Java, backend applications, and microservices architectures.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Quarkus, and/or Micronaut.
• Experience with JavaScript/Node.js and Python.
• Hands-on with AWS cloud services (Cognito, S3, EKS, SNS, SQS, CloudWatch, Lambda, VPN).
• Experience with REST APIs and cloud-based app development.
• Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes-based management.
• Experience with Git/GitLab, Jira Software, Confluence.
• Knowledge of Linux environments and development tools.
• Good understanding of Lean Startup and Agile practices.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions, manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and microservices with Java.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Backend Java Developer (Desenvolvedor Backend Java) based in Brazil.

We are looking for an experienced Backend Java Developer to join a technology-driven project within the financial services sector. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend applications and microservices using modern technologies and cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and QA specialists, to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality software solutions. Your work will involve building and integrating APIs, troubleshooting technical issues, estimating development tasks, and continuously improving existing systems. You will also contribute to complex projects requiring autonomy, strong technical judgment, and a focus on performance and efficiency. Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and applications using Java and modern microservices architectures.
• Build and support microservices using frameworks and technologies such as Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, Node.js, and Python.
• Develop, integrate, and maintain APIs, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with development teams, business analysts, requirements specialists, and QA professionals throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Estimate development efforts for user stories, technical tasks, and bug fixes, ensuring realistic planning and delivery timelines.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects while implementing continuous improvements to existing applications.
• Develop clean, efficient, maintainable, and testable code, following established engineering standards and best practices.
• Write and maintain unit tests to ensure software quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
• Work with AWS cloud services and containerized environments, supporting the deployment and management of distributed applications.
• Manage and support container-based applications using Kubernetes and related infrastructure tools.
• Participate in technical discussions, contribute to architectural decisions, and identify opportunities to improve development processes.
• Work autonomously in a dynamic environment, making technical decisions and ensuring high-quality deliverables within challenging deadlines.

Requirements:

• Degree in Systems Analysis, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid professional experience as a Backend Developer or Backend Systems Analyst.
• Strong experience in Java development, particularly in backend applications and microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of microservices development using Spring Boot, Quarkus, and/or Micronaut.
• Experience with JavaScript, Node.js, and Python.
• Practical experience with AWS cloud services, including Cognito, S3, EKS, SNS, SQS, CloudWatch, Lambda, and AWS VPN Console.
• Experience with REST APIs, API integration, and cloud-based application development.
• Familiarity with containerization and Kubernetes-based software management.
• Experience using Git and GitLab for version control and collaborative development.
• Knowledge of Linux environments and related development tools.
• Familiarity with Jira Software and Confluence for project management, documentation, and team collaboration.
• Experience with Rancher, ELK Stack, and the Sensedia platform.
• Ability to write unit tests and produce well-designed, efficient, maintainable, and testable code.
• Good understanding of Lean Startup principles and agile development practices.
• Proven experience working on complex software development projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
• Ability to work independently, make strategic technical decisions, and manage priorities in fast-paced environments.
