Jobgether is seeking a Mid-Level Java Back-End Developer based in Brazil to design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java, Quarkus, and modern architectural practices. You will build REST APIs, contribute to microservices, and work within an Agile team, all in a fully remote Brazil-focused role.

You will participate in the full SDLC, ensuring code quality, security, and performance while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and integrating with external systems.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mid-Level Java Back-End Developer based in Brazil.

We are looking for a skilled Mid-Level Java Back-End Developer to design, develop, and maintain reliable, scalable, and high-quality software solutions. In this role, you will work on building backend functionalities and services using Java, Quarkus, and modern software architecture practices. You will contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from technical analysis and solution design to implementation, testing, and continuous improvement. Working within an Agile development environment, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient solutions aligned with business and technical requirements. You will also help integrate applications with external systems, optimize performance, and ensure code quality, security, and maintainability. Accountabilities:

• Develop new backend functionalities and services using Java and related technologies, delivering tasks and features planned for each development sprint.
• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, implementation, and testing.
• Implement business rules and integrations with external systems and data sources, ensuring reliable information availability for application consumption.
• Design and develop secure, scalable, maintainable code that follows established technical standards, architectural guidelines, and software quality practices.
• Build and maintain REST APIs, web services, and integrations to support communication between applications and systems.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of microservices-based and service-oriented architectures.
• Identify and resolve technical blockers, proactively communicating risks, dependencies, and potential challenges to the development team.
• Perform application maintenance, troubleshooting, bug fixes, enhancements, and performance optimizations.
• Collaborate with team members to define technical solutions, refine requirements, and ensure the quality and consistency of software deliveries.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration and delivery processes.
• Apply Agile methodologies and engineering best practices to support efficient collaboration and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Solid professional experience developing applications using Java SE, Java Web, and Quarkus.
• Knowledge of JPA, Jakarta EE/JEE, and REST API development.
• Experience with microservices architecture, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and software design patterns.
• Practical experience integrating systems through REST APIs, Web Services, messaging systems, JMS, and synchronous and asynchronous communication.
• Knowledge of relational database modeling, SQL query development, and query optimization.
• Experience with web development technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), MVC architecture, and responsive applications.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum and Kanban, as well as Test-Driven Development (TDD), refactoring, and requirements refinement.
• Experience implementing automated tests, including unit and integration testing, using JUnit, Selenium, or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of static code analysis and software quality tools such as SonarQube.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, continuous integration, and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar technologies.
• Understanding of layered application architecture, API design, containers, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience analyzing functional and non-functional requirements and contributing to the definition of appropriate technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within Agile development teams.
• Good communication skills and a proactive approach to identifying technical challenges and proposing solutions.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD), Enterprise Integration Patterns, and multi-tenant architecture.
• Experience with Enterprise Service Buses (ESB), WebSphere Message Broker, or equivalent technologies.
• Familiarity with observability, application monitoring, performance testing, and tools such as JMeter.
• Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification (AZ-900).
• Experience with legacy technologies and frameworks such as JSF, EJB, Struts, Swing, jQuery, AngularJS, ASP, and ClearCase.
