The Role

As a COBOL Mainframe Application Developer, you will support development on existing Payroll (Autopay) software systems, working closely with clients. Responsibilities include creating programming specs, documenting, testing, fixing defects, and estimating development tasks. You will work from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm EST, Monday to Friday, with on-call support and weekend deployments.

Primary Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy code on z/OS mainframe platform.
• Translate user requirements into technical solutions.
• Provide hardware/software troubleshooting support.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation.
• Mentor junior developers and share best practices.
• Manage changes and fixes in production.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call support, including nights and weekends.

Who You Are

You are experienced, growth-minded, customer-focused, and inclusive. Essential skills include:

• Proficiency in COBOL in an IBM z/OS environment.
• Experience with Payroll systems (Autopay is a plus).
• Knowledge of mainframe tech: COBOL, Assembler, DB2, CICS, VSAM, FTP, MQ, Changeman.
• Support experience, development lifecycle familiarity, and Agile/Waterfall methodologies.
• Languages: Advanced English and Spanish.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field.

Preferred Skills

• SaaS applications (Oracle E-Business, SAP, etc.).
• Application modernization tools like CAST.
• DevSecOps experience.
• Risk mitigation strategies experience.
