The Role

As a COBOL Mainframe Application Developer, you will support development on existing Payroll (Autopay) software systems, working directly with client personnel. Responsibilities include creating and using programming specs, documenting, testing, fixing defects, and providing work estimates.

Work hours are 8:30am-5:30pm USA Eastern Time, Monday to Friday, with 24/7 on-call support and weekend implementations.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy code on z/OS mainframe platform.
2. Translate user requirements into technical specifications and solutions.
3. Provide technical support for hardware and software issues.
4. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation.
5. Mentor junior developers and share best practices.
6. Manage changes to production applications effectively.
7. Participate in on-call support and weekend production/QA support.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of COBOL programming in IBM z/OS mainframe environment.
• Experience with Payroll systems (Autopay experience is a bonus).
• Knowledge of mainframe technologies: COBOL, Assembler, DB2, CICS, VSAM, FTP, MQ, Changeman.
• Support experience in production environments, including break-fix and fixes.
• Development lifecycle experience from development to production.
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• English - Advanced; Spanish - Advanced.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• SaaS application implementation experience (e.g., Oracle E-Business, NetSuite, SAP).
• Experience with application modernization tools like CAST.
• Experience with DevSecOps processes and risk mitigation strategies.
