Alignerr is seeking a Software Engineer (C#) to join our internal tooling for AI infrastructure. This fully remote hourly contract focuses on building data pipelines, annotation tooling, and evaluation systems used by AI labs to train and benchmark models.

You will design high-performance C# components, develop backend services, and collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions with a 20-40 hour per week commitment.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years producing production-grade C# code.
• Full-stack tooling and backend services experience.
• Experience with interoperability: Python ML models from .NET or wrapping native libraries.

About The Role

What if your C# expertise could directly shape the infrastructure powering the next generation of AI? We're looking for experienced C# full-stack engineers to build the data pipelines, annotation tooling, and evaluation systems that leading AI labs depend on to train and benchmark their models.

This is a fully remote contract role with flexible hours. You'll work on real production systems - not toy projects - alongside data, research, and engineering teams at the frontier of AI development.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance C# systems supporting AI data pipelines and evaluation workflows
• Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for large-scale data annotation, validation, and quality control
• Improve reliability, performance, and robustness across existing C# codebases
• Collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to support model training and evaluation workflows
• Identify bottlenecks and edge cases in data and system behavior, then implement scalable, production-ready fixes
• Participate in synchronous design reviews to iterate on architecture and implementation decisions

Who You Are

• Native or fluent English speaker with clear written and verbal communication skills
• Full-stack developer with a strong systems programming background
• 3-5+ years of professional experience writing production-grade C#
• Experienced with interoperability scenarios - invoking Python ML models from .NET, wrapping native libraries, or similar challenges
• Skilled at designing robust benchmarking and performance evaluation harnesses
• Able to commit 20-40 hours per week with reliability and consistency

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with data annotation, data quality pipelines, or evaluation systems
• Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, model training, or benchmarking infrastructure
• Experience with distributed systems or developer tooling
• Background working alongside research or data science teams
