Clariant Mining Solutions in Belo Horizonte, Brazil is seeking an experienced R&D Chemist to advance chemical solutions for mineral processing. You will screen and develop surfactant and polymer formulations, run trials, analyze data, and generate technical reports for stakeholders.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Chemistry (Master's preferred) and 4+ years in industrial chemical R&D, with fluency in English and Portuguese and willingness to travel ~20%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry is required.
• Master's in Chemistry, Metallurgy, or Mineral Processing is preferred.
• PhD is considered an advantage.

Responsabilités

• Screen and evaluate new polymer and surfactant molecules.
• Develop innovative formulations meeting defined milestones and commercial requirements.
• Execute trials and surface chemistry studies, linking data to mineral processing performance.
• Process experimental data and produce technical reports for stakeholders.

• Support the BS Mining commercial team during scale-up from bench to field.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate new polymer and surfactant molecules, identifying promising chemical platforms that are aligned with current and emerging business needs
• Develop innovative surfactant and polymer formulations, delivering technically sound solutions that meet defined milestones and commercial requirements
• Execute and analyze application trials and surface chemistry studies, drawing meaningful correlations between experimental data and real‑world mineral processing performance
• Process experimental data and produce accurate, well‑structured technical reports for internal stakeholders and decision‑makers across different levels of the organization
• Collaborate actively with Application & Development labs, global research centers, and raw material suppliers to ensure effective cross‑functional project execution
• Support the BS Mining commercial team in laboratory and industrial trials, contributing technical expertise throughout the scale‑up journey from bench to field

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (required)
• Master's degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, or Mineral Processing (preferred)
• PhD is considered an advantage

Experience & Knowledge

• Minimum 4 years of experience in R&D applied to industrial chemical applications
• Specialization and/or hands-on experience in organic synthesis, physical chemistry, and/or surfactants and polymers
• Solid background in experimental design, statistical analysis, and data processing
