Nouryon is seeking an experienced Application Scientist to lead advanced R&D and mining applications development in a global setting. You will act as a subject-matter expert for mineral agglomeration, leaching, water management, and related mining processes, working closely with customers and internal stakeholders.

The role is onsite in Brazil (Itupeva), with approximately 25% travel, requiring deep technical knowledge and the ability to translate science into practical, value-creating

About the job

As an Application Scientist, you will initiate and support product and application development in line with business and market strategies. You will act as a subject-matter expert within Mining applications and play a key role in innovation, problem solving, and knowledge sharing. The role requires both deep technical understanding and the ability to work close to customers and internal stakeholders in a global setting. This position is onsite Brazil, Itupeva.

In your future role as “Application Scientist” you will

• Initiate, plan, execute, and lead advanced R&D and application development projects. Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in mineral agglomeration, leaching mining water management or other Mining applications internally and externally.
• Translate innovation opportunities and market needs into development activities.
• Support customers and internal stakeholders with deep Application expertise.
• Build and maintain strong scientific networks within industry and academia.
• Mentor, coach and support colleagues to build capability and knowledge.

• Deep expertise in Mining market, especially in mineral agglomeration, Leaching, water management and other applications within the Mining industry.

We believe you are A curious and result-oriented application scientist who enjoys solving complex problems and working closely to customers and internal stakeholders. You are holding PhD or MSc in Mineralogy or similar education. You bring a strong academic background customer perspective, collaborate naturally across functions and cultures, and are motivated by turning science into real-world impact. You are comfortable working in a global environment and navigating different ways of working across regions and cultures.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, 100% on-site work model, with global travel of approximately 25%.
