Job summary

Binance is seeking a hands-on Java backend engineer to join our Brazil-focused payments team. You will design, implement, and operate scalable services that power PIX payment flows, collaborating with product, QA, DevOps, and other engineering squads.

You will own end-to-end delivery—from coding and testing to monitoring production and driving improvements in performance, reliability, and security. Prior PIX or Brazilian payments experience is a strong advantage.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and databases.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL; familiarity with caching, messaging systems is a plus.
• Strong understanding of backend engineering fundamentals, including concurrency and performance optimization.
• Experience building production systems and solving technical issues end-to-end.
• Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and production monitoring tools.
• Experience with PIX or Brazilian payment integrations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot to support PIX payment integrations in Brazil.
• Implement and optimize payment processing capabilities, including initiation, status, reconciliation, and exception handling.
• Integrate with Brazilian banks, payment providers, and external systems via APIs.
• Build reliable, high-performance backend systems with strong focus on consistency, idempotency, fault tolerance, and availability.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, QA, DevOps, and other teams to deliver features from development to production.
• Write clean, well-tested code, participate in code reviews, and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve payment services.
• Support payment security, risk control, and compliance with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot to support PIX payment integrations and related payment flows in Brazil.
• Implement and optimize payment processing capabilities, including payment initiation, transaction status management, reconciliation, and exception handling.
• Integrate with Brazilian banks, payment service providers, and external financial systems through APIs and other integration mechanisms.
• Build reliable, high-performance backend systems with a strong focus on transaction consistency, idempotency, fault tolerance, and system availability.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve system stability and performance.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, QA engineers, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver payment features from development through production deployment.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, participate in code reviews, and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of payment services.
• Support payment-related security, risk control, and compliance requirements in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on backend development experience with Java, preferably using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, distributed systems, and database design.
• Experience working with relational databases and SQL; familiarity with caching, messaging systems, and asynchronous processing is a plus.
• Strong understanding of backend engineering fundamentals, including concurrency, transaction management, error handling, and performance optimization.
• Experience building and maintaining production systems, with the ability to independently investigate technical issues and deliver practical solutions.
• Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and production monitoring tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership, and a willingness to get hands-on with coding, debugging, and operational troubleshooting.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with PIX, Brazilian payment systems, or integrations with Brazilian banks and local payment service providers.
• Experience in payment processing, fintech, banking, digital wallets, or other transaction-intensive systems.
• Familiarity with payment reconciliation, webhook processing, transaction lifecycle management, and payment failure recovery.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, containerization, Kubernetes, and observability tools.
• Understanding of payment security, fraud prevention, and financial regulatory requirements.
