As an Associate Design Engineer for Electric Power Division (EPD), you will be supporting the design of diesel and gas gensets. You will be providing factory support to solve complex technical problems, to maintain regular production to meet customer delivery dates. You will work with people across multiple organizations expanding your professional contacts and develop an understanding of the diversity of Caterpillar and its systems.
Assist the design and development of mechanical and electrical components for diesel and gas gensets;
Support other engineers during product maintenance, development and testing;
Drive the resolution of complex product design defects and quality concerns for current production products;
Provide technical leadership in the assessment and disposition of engineering deviations impacting product performance, quality, and manufacturability;
Contribute to process improvement projects that deliver measurable business results and support global standardization efforts;
Contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of engineering documentation, processes, and design guides;
Partner with cross-functional teams to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and enhance product reliability;
Communicate technical information and project status to stakeholders;
Support NPI, NSI, PCI, and CPI programs, ensuring successful implementation and integration within manufacturing operations.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent engineering degree and CREA registration;
Intermediate English;
Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative;
Effective communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work successfully in a team environment.
Industry background in industrial equipment, automotive, or electrical manufacturing environments;
Experience using CAD software;
Design and product development experience;
Post-graduation.
Note: This position requires the candidate to work on-site five days a week.
