Amazon Financial Accounting Manager - Sao Paulo, Brazil

Amazon is a fast-paced, dynamic, high-tech company. Our global accounting organization supports financial reporting, internal control, intercompany, and transfer pricing activities, as well as new business launches worldwide across various lines of business including consumer products, initiatives, merchant operations, logistics, payments, and cloud computing.

We are seeking a manager-level candidate to support business growth in our Sao Paulo office. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in financial reporting and internal control, with backgrounds in large public companies or senior management roles in private companies. Proven leadership in managing complex challenges is essential.

This role involves overseeing the Latin America accounting team, managing all aspects of financial accounting and reporting in the region, and reporting to a senior manager. The candidate should understand internal control design to evaluate effectiveness and influence system, process, and control design for expanding business activities. Skills in technical accounting research and writing position papers are required, along with the ability to consolidate and communicate information effectively across teams and countries.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support various accounting and reporting processes.
2. Own end-to-end processes to support finance and business partners.
3. Assess internal control designs and develop new processes for growing business activities.
4. Manage the period-end close, ensuring accurate lease accounting entries and reconciliations.
5. Oversee key lease lifecycle events.
6. Perform analytical reviews of lease balances and support cash flow reporting.
7. Lead projects, provide accounting guidance, and act as the primary contact for issues resolution.
8. Collaborate effectively across organizations and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Experience in building financial and operational reports for decision-making.
• Knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO) and GAAP research tools.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese, both spoken and written.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or CPA certification.
• Experience in Big Four accounting firms with Fortune 500 clients.
• Experience in data analysis, process automation, and solving complex business challenges.
• Experience with accounting closing processes and reconciliations.
