Job summary

Kempinski Hotels seeks a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement at our luxury property in Manama. You will direct supplier networks, negotiate contracts, and manage OS&E/FF&E purchasing to uphold brand standards.

With 3–5 years in luxury hotel procurement and a degree in SCM, Business Admin, or Finance, you will collaborate with Culinary, Housekeeping, and Engineering to ensure timely, cost-efficient purchases and compliant operations.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years as Purchasing Manager or Assistant Purchasing Manager in a 5-star luxury hotel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Finance.
  • Proficiency in hospitality procurement software, inventory management and contract negotiation.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical skills, vendor relationship management and English fluency.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-Opening Procurement Setup: establish supplier networks, negotiate contracts, configure procurement/inventory software, execute OS&E/FF&E purchasing schedules before launch.
  • Sourcing & Supplier Management: identify, evaluate, and manage vendors; negotiate pricing, terms, and SLAs while preserving quality.
  • Inventory & Cost Control: oversee receiving, store operations, stock management to optimize turnover and par levels.
  • Compliance & Policy Enforcement: enforce purchasing policies, controls, sustainability guidelines, and health/safety regulations.
  • Cross-Departmental Support: work with Culinary, Housekeeping and Engineering on routine purchases, capex orders, and emergencies.

Purchasing Manager

Description

The Purchasing Manager directs the hotel’s procurement operations, managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and sourcing high-quality materials to minimize supply costs while upholding luxury brand standards and establishing supply-chain infrastructure prior to launch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Opening Procurement Setup: Establish supplier networks, negotiate preferred vendor contracts, configure procurement/inventory software (e.g., Material Control, FBM), and execute OS&E (Operating Supplies & Equipment) and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) purchasing critical-path schedules before launch.
  • Sourcing & Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage reliable vendors; negotiate competitive pricing, terms, and service level agreements (SLAs) without compromising quality.
  • Inventory & Cost Control: Oversee receiving, store operations, and stock management to streamline inventory turnover, minimize waste, and maintain optimal par levels.
  • Compliance & Policy Enforcement: Enforce purchasing policies, internal financial controls, corporate sustainability guidelines, and local health/safety regulations across all operational departments.
  • Cross-Departmental Support: Work closely with Culinary, Housekeeping, and Engineering teams to manage routine operational purchases, capital expenditure orders, and emergency requests efficient.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

What Makes You a Great Fit; Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years as Purchasing Manager or Assistant Purchasing Manager in a 5-star luxury hotel, with proven pre-opening project experience preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Finance.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in hospitality procurement software (e.g., Materials Control, SunSystems, Oracle), inventory management, and contract negotiation.
  • Competencies: High ethical standards, strong negotiation and analytical skills, vendor relationship management, and business fluency in English.
