Job summary

Beyond is establishing a Bahrain AOC and seeks a Nominated Postholder Ground Operations to lead the development, certification, and oversight of the ground operations function from Manama. The role reports to the Accountable Manager and drives safety standards, regulatory compliance, and contract oversight.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years in aeronautics, strong knowledge of ANTR/BCAA, IATA/IGOM familiarity, and experience managing third‑party ground handlers in a startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, certification and oversight of Bahrain AOC ground operations.
• Define Ground Operations budget and coordinate with Flight Operations on airports and loading requirements.
• Oversee ground-handling contracts and outsourcing of ground-handling functions.
• Ensure aircraft operations comply with the AOC; follow up and close Compliance Monitoring findings.
• Supervise ground crew licences, medicals and ratings; enforce flight-safety standards.
• Oversee the carriage of dangerous goods and risk mitigation.
• Issue handling documents in accordance with Bahrain ANTR and BCAA; establish GOM and implement SMS under the Safety Manager.

Job description

Beyond is the world's first premium leisure airline. As we continue to expand our regulatory and operational footprint, we are establishing a Bahrain Air Operator Certificate (AOC) under the oversight of the Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs (BCAA). We are seeking a Nominated Postholder Ground Operations to lead the development, certification, and oversight of the ground operations function for our Bahrain AOC, based in Manama, Bahrain.

The Nominated Postholder Ground Operations is appointed by, and reports to, the Accountable Manager, and is responsible for:

• Ensuring safe and secure operations and remaining in compliance with the applicable Bahrain Air Navigation Technical Regulations (ANTR) and BCAA requirements for the operational area under your responsibility, and setting Ground Operations safety standards
• Defining the Ground Operations budget and liaising with the Nominated Postholder – Flight Operations on new airports and unique ground-handling or loading requirements
• Overseeing and coordinating ground-handling contracts and the outsourcing of ground-handling functions
• Ensuring all aircraft are operated in compliance with the AOC and that Compliance Monitoring findings are followed up and closed in a timely manner
• Supervising ground crew and their licences, medicals, and ratings, and checking that procedures and flight-safety standards are applied, taking corrective action where needed
• Providing oversight and control of the carriage of dangerous goods and the identification and mitigation of hazards and risks
• Issuing handling documents in accordance with the applicable Bahrain ANTR and BCAA requirements, ICAO, IATA, and airport-authority regulations, establishing and issuing the Ground Operations Manual (GOM), and implementing the department Safety Management System (SMS) under the Safety Manager

Requirements

This is a Nominated Postholder position under the applicable Bahrain Air Navigation Technical Regulations (ANTR) and associated BCAA requirements and guidance. Appointment is subject to formal nomination to and acceptance by BCAA.

Mandatory

• Thorough knowledge of the AOC holder's ground operations concept and the applicable Bahrain ANTR and BCAA AOC certification requirements
• At least 5 years' relevant work experience, of which at least 2 years in the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position
• Knowledge of the applicable Bahrain ANTR and BCAA requirements, dangerous-goods regulations, and ground-handling standards
• Comprehensive knowledge of the applicable Bahrain ANTR and BCAA requirements, the AOC holder's operations and its management/compliance system
• Must be acceptable to BCAA following formal assessment
• Working knowledge of IATA AHM / IGOM
• Experience managing third-party ground-handling providers
• Station or AOC start-up experience
