Job summary

SVITZER is seeking an Engine Rating to support vessel operations under the Chief Engineer. The role focuses on ensuring the vessel is safely available for deployment and performing tasks across deck and engine spaces in accordance with HMS procedures and local regulations.

Requirements include recognition of English language, a minimum of 24 months sea time as an Oiler, and certifications such as STCW Basic Safety Training, Seafarer Medical, and Security Training.

Qualifications

  • III/4 Eng Watch Rating – Unlimited qualification.
  • STCW Basic Safety Training required.
  • Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties.
  • Valid Seafarer Medical certification.

Responsibilities

  • The Engine Rating reports to the Chief Engineer.
  • Maintain vessel safety and readiness for deployment under Chief Engineer's direction.
  • Perform tasks safely and seek guidance when in doubt.
  • Propose initiatives to raise onboard safety levels.
  • Participate in safety training and drills onboard.
  • Carry out duties assigned by the Chief Engineer related to vessel tasks.
  • Maintenance and housekeeping on deck, engine room, or accommodation as instructed.
  • Stop Work if unsafe and inform the Master; follow Take 5 procedure.
  • Know Proactive and Near Miss reporting procedures.
  • Comply with company safety management system regulations.
  • Participate in induction training for visitors and authorized personnel.
