Job summary

SVITZER Bahrain WLL seeks an Engine Rating to support Chief Engineer in safe vessel operation and readiness.

You will perform tasks on deck and in engine room, maintain housekeeping, and participate in safety drills, with focus on stopping work when unsafe and reporting near misses as required by HMS procedures.

Candidates should have STCW training, sea time as an Oiler, and good English; opportunities exist across our global maritime services.

Qualifications

• Basic safety training required per STCW.
• Sea time of at least 24 months as an Oiler.
• Good command of English advisable.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the Chief Engineer.
• Ensures vessel is deployable safely and efficiently.
• Perform tasks safely; seek guidance from Chief Engineer as needed.
• Propose safety improvements onboard.
• Participate in onboard safety drills.
• Carry out duties assigned by the Chief Engineer on the vessel.
• Maintain deck, engine room and accommodation areas as directed.
• Stop Work when unsafe; inform Master; follow Take 5 procedures.
• Report near misses and other safety concerns to Chief Engineer/Master.
• Comply with safety management system regulations.
• Induction training for visitors and authorized personnel onboard.
