As a Deck Hand you will report to the Master, perform duties safely, stand watches, participate in drills, and help maintain the vessel in a ready state, following HMS policies and local regulations.

Qualifications

  • Nav Watch Rating and safety knowledge required for deck operations.
  • BasicSafety Training as per STCW A-VI/1.
  • Security duties training per A-VI/6.
  • Valid Seafarer Medical certificate required.

Responsibilities

  • The Deck Hand reports to the Master.
  • Ensure vessel is ready for deployment, safely and efficiently as directed by the Master.
  • Perform all work tasks safely; seek guidance from the Master when in doubt.
  • Propose safety initiatives to raise onboard safety levels.
  • Participate in safety training and drills onboard.
  • Carry out operational duties related to the vessel, including salvage support and equipment prep ashore.
  • Maintain deck, engine room and accommodation areas; perform housekeeping as instructed.
  • Stand watches as lookout on the bridge and deck as required.
  • Stop Work when unsafe and inform the Master according to HMS policies.
  • Understand and follow proactive reporting and near-miss procedures; Master to instruct.
  • Comply with company safety management system regulations.
  • Induct visitors and personnel accessing the vessel when required.
