Job summary

Havelock One Interiors in Bahrain seeks an experienced Assistant Factory Manager to lead its large joinery and manufacturing operations, including 700+ workers, to deliver high-quality bespoke interiors and display cases.

You will oversee production planning, shop-floor management, and continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiency, standardisation and lean practices across woodworking, CNC and finishing processes.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of factory management experience in a large furniture/joinery company.
• Pro-active leader of a 700+ workforce with strong man-management skills.
• Strong technical and execution capabilities with ability to solve technical problems.
• Sound knowledge of woodworking, joinery, finishes and machinery.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing and driving change.
• Excellent communication; able to work in a multinational environment.
• Planning and resource allocation knowledge.
• Experience sourcing refurbishing machinery.
• Expert in production and production support functions.

Responsibilities

• Enhance efficiency in existing processes and facility and propose improvements and mechanisation throughout the production cycle.
• Experience in joinery shop fittings and other sections works such as assembly, milling, veneer, polishing, upholstery etc…. all kind of joinery works.
• Experience in managing shop floor on the daily basis and monitor all sections workload and ensure smooth running of daily activities.
• Overseeing the production process, drawing up a production schedule, lead and manage work allocation in liaison with shop floor supervisors.
• Monitoring the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed.
• Strong background in production process like CNC laser or machining, all modern equipment’s.
• Good knowledge for different finishes and methods to achieve the finishes.
• Optimizes the machining processes in terms of consistent quality and productivity.
• Oversees planning for new product development process, selection of machines, tools, fixtures, and inspection methods.
• Improve the standard of the company’s manufacturing operation to bring it in line with European manufacturing facilities.
• Increase the company’s capacity in an efficient/ competitive manner.
• Improve quality of products and manufacturing methods and processes.
• In depth technical knowledge of manufacturing techniques, details, processes, familiar with all types of raw materials, adhesives and finishing materials to organise and lead the task at hand with a clear vision and objective.
• Takes ownership in resolving technical challenges and bottlenecks on the shop floor. Develop and lead the continuous improvement activities within the team.
• Co-ordinate and maintain good working relationships between different production and support functions (Metal, Purchasing, Stores, Logistics, H&S etc.).
• Manages staff selection, performance, development, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience of working in a factory management role of a large furniture and joinery manufacturing company
• A self-driven and pro-active person with a strong personality and good man-management skills, who can efficiently lead a workforce of over 700+ workers
• Very strong technical and execution capabilities with ability to solve technical problems and details. Must have a good understanding of Capacity management
• Sound knowledge of woodworking business particularly technical aspects relating to joinery and case good construction methods, finishing procedures, timber and veneers, familiarity with various woodworking machinery etc
• An understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques and the ability to implement change
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a multinational environment
• Good knowledge of planning and resource allocation
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing in architectural joinery including sourcing of refurbishing machinery
• Expert in all technical aspects related to production and production support functions
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Auto CAD and experience on ERP will be an added advantage
