ENGIE Belgium is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Weather & Short-Term Power team in Brussels. You will turn weather forecasts into market signals for day-ahead and intraday trading, leveraging weather data to drive trading decisions and asset optimization.

The role combines meteorology, data science and power markets, requiring a Master’s or PhD and 3–5 years of experience. Fluent English is essential; Dutch or French are a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in meteorology or related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in weather forecasting, data science applied to weather, or quantitative analysis.
• Fluent in English; French and/or Dutch a plus.
• Strong Python and data science skills for time series, uncertainty quantification, and large meteorological datasets.

Responsabilités

• Develop weather-driven forecast products for day-ahead, intraday and imbalance markets.
• Post-process deterministic and ensemble forecasts to extract predictive value for CWE.
• Collaborate with trading desks to deliver weather intelligence in actionable form.
• Bridge STP and Meteo & Climate teams; co-develop tools and data pipelines.
• Monitor upcoming weather and alert traders on market-moving events.
• Contribute to the team’s roadmap, dashboards and digital platforms.
