Job summary

UCB in Belgium seeks a Biomanufacturing Manager - Upstream to lead operations at the Belgium Biomanufacturing Operations Center in Braine-L'Alleud. The role focuses on safe, compliant upstream production, people leadership, and continuous improvement in a regulated environment.

You will drive performance, mentor senior team members, and partner with cross-functional groups to deliver patient-focused medicines.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in science, engineering, or related field.
10+ years in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Experience leading production teams in a regulated environment (including executive-level staff).
Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and industrial production processes.
Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee safe, compliant and efficient upstream biomanufacturing operations.
Lead and develop team leaders and technicians, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
Monitor production performance, analyse results and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate with maintenance, qualification and calibration for equipment readiness.
Manage deviations, investigations and CAPAs to ensure regulatory compliance.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support audits and inspections.
