Job summary

IMEC in Leuven, Belgium seeks a Thermal-Mechanical Expert for electronic assemblies. You will perform advanced thermal and mechanical modelling, validate against experiments, and optimize designs for reliability in harsh environments.

Collaboration with design, manufacturing and QA teams is essential to deliver robust solutions. You will stay at the forefront of simulation techniques, material characterization, and AI-enhanced prediction methods while contributing to reports and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or related field.
• Proven experience in thermal and mechanical simulation of electronic systems.
• Proficiency with MARC, ANSYS, COMSOL or equivalent tools.
• Strong understanding of material physics, mechanics and heat transfer.
• Experience with experimental validation of simulation results.
• Familiarity with AI-based computational modelling is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate complex ideas.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermal and mechanical simulations of electronic assemblies using industry-standard tools.
• Analyse results to identify issues and optimize thermal/mechanical performance.
• Develop and validate simulation models; conduct experimental tests and material characterization.
• Keep up-to-date with advances in thermal-mechanical simulation and AI-based methods.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to integrate insights into product development.
