Halian in Brussels is seeking an exceptionally skilled Technical Specialist to join the enterprise IT infrastructure team on a fully onsite permanent basis. The role focuses on high availability, security, and performance of server and network infrastructure with strong Windows/Linux and virtualization expertise.

You will administer server OSs, monitor health, deploy patches, and work with security and networking teams to enforce IT governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional IT infrastructure administration or technical specialist experience.
• Deep proficiency in Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu), VMware/Hyper-V, and Active Directory.
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and enterprise storage.
• Fluent English (written and verbal).
• Onsite Brussels residency/work authorization.

Detailed Job Description

As a Technical Specialist in Brussels via Halian, you will serve as a principal technical authority responsible for ensuring the high availability, security, and performance of enterprise server and network infrastructure. Your daily responsibilities will encompass administering server operating systems, monitoring system health, deploying infrastructure patches, and resolving escalated technical incidents. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to execute IT infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, monitor, and maintain enterprise server operating systems, virtualized environments, and core IT infrastructure.
• Resolve escalated technical incidents, hardware failures, and software malfunctions across server and network layers.
• Deploy operating system patches, security updates, and software packages using enterprise deployment tools.
• Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and network latency using modern observability and alerting platforms.
• Participate in backup administration, disaster recovery testing, and data restoration procedures.
• Collaborate proactively with security operations and network engineering teams to enforce IT governance standards.
• Manage infrastructure documentation, network topology diagrams, and server configuration inventories.
• Provide technical guidance and tier-3 support to junior helpdesk and support specialists.
• Participate in scheduled change management windows and out-of-hours maintenance rotations.
• Author comprehensive operational runbooks, system health reports, and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5+ years of professional IT infrastructure administration or technical specialist experience.
• Deep technical proficiency in Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu), VMware/Hyper-V virtualization, and Active Directory.
• Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and enterprise storage systems.
• Proven analytical problem-solving, incident management, and cross-functional communication capabilities.
• Mandatory language proficiency: Fluent English (written and verbal).
• Mandatory residency/work authorization: Ability to operate fully onsite in Brussels.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator, RHCE, CCNA, or ITIL.
