ECS is seeking a Technical Manager to drive the automation of our warehouses and lead a 17‑person automation team at our Zeebrugge facility. You will steer KPI improvements, ensure reliable operation, and shape the long‑term asset strategy for ongoing warehouse automation.

You bring a strong technical mindset, 3–5 years of leadership experience, and fluency in Dutch and English. Collaboration with operations, IT, and facilities is essential to align priorities and deliver results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in a technical leadership role.
• Fluent in Dutch and English; knowledge of French is a plus.
• Knowledge of WMS is an asset.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.

Responsabilités

• Analyze KPIs (availability, reliability, performance) and translate into improvements.
• Monitor operational performance and ensure high availability with preventive/corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain a long-term asset plan for continuity and automation growth.
• Act as technical lead and/or project manager in CAPEX projects from analysis to aftercare.
• Manage automation budgets and monitor investments, costs, and priorities.
• Gather information from shop floor, systems, and stakeholders to drive actions and solutions.
• Collaborate with operations, IT, facilities and other stakeholders to align priorities.

Description

As Technical Manager, you are the driving force behind our automated warehouses. You combine technical expertise with strong leadership to ensure that our advanced automation systems operate reliably, efficiently, and with a forward‑looking mindset. You take the lead in the technical management and continuous development of warehouse automation, guide and support your team, and actively contribute to the optimization and innovation of our automated logistics environment.

Your Role & Responsibilities

• You lead the automation team of 17 people and are responsible for daily coordination, coaching, and the further development of your team members
• You analyze KPIs (including availability, reliability, and performance) and translate them into targeted improvement actions within warehouse operations and automation systems
• You monitor the operational performance of the automation systems and ensure optimal availability by defining and following up on preventive and corrective actions
• You develop and maintain a long‑term asset plan to safeguard continuity, reliability, and further automation of the warehouse environment
• You act as technical lead and/or project manager in technical CAPEX projects, from analysis and scoping to implementation and aftercare
• You manage the automation budgets and monitor investments, costs, and priorities based on operational needs and strategic choices
• You gather and analyze information from various sources (shop floor, systems, stakeholders) and translate this into concrete actions and sustainable long‑term solutions
• You work closely with internal stakeholders (operations, IT, facilities, etc.) and align actions and priorities in line with overall warehouse operations

Work schedule

• Full‑time position
• Day shifts – flexibility is expected when operational needs require it

Profile

Your profile & qualities

• You have a strong technical mindset combined with a strategic outlook
• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree, or have equivalent experience
• You have 3 to 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role
• You are analytically strong and able to work with fragmented information
• You combine people management with technical expertise
• You communicate clearly and can convince and engage stakeholders
• Knowledge of WMS is an asset
• You are fluent in Dutch and English; knowledge of French is a plus
