Technology & Risk Recruitment is seeking an experienced Technical Application Service Lead to take end-to-end ownership of R&D applications and platforms. This role blends application management, infrastructure operations, cloud/container platforms, service ownership, and project management.

You will manage Windows and Linux environments, plan infrastructure, coordinate licensing (FlexLM/LMTools), ALM platforms, AWS ECS, define roadmaps, and work with stakeholders to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years' experience in application/technical service management.
• Strong Windows and Linux infrastructure knowledge.
• Experience with full lifecycle of business-critical applications.
• Familiarity with cloud and container tech (AWS ECS).
• Experience with ALM platforms; PTC is a plus.
• Experience with software licensing environments (FlexLM/LMTools).
• Strong stakeholder, supplier and vendor management.
• Experience with JIRA, roadmaps, and requirements.
• Master's degree or equivalent.
• ITIL 4 or PM cert desirable.

TRR is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Technical Application Service Lead to take end-to-end ownership of business-critical R&D applications and their supporting platforms. This is a broad technical leadership position combining application management, infrastructure operations, cloud/container platforms, service ownership, supplier management and product/project management.

You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of critical engineering applications from infrastructure strategy and deployment through upgrades, migrations and disaster recovery, while also working closely with business stakeholders to define roadmaps, manage requirements, oversee suppliers and drive continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the lifecycle and day-to-day service management of business-critical R&D applications.
• Manage applications across Windows and Linux server environments.
• Plan and architect infrastructure required for customised applications.
• Manage application deployment, maintenance, upgrades and migrations.
• Support disaster recovery planning and activities.
• Manage software licensing platforms, ideally including FlexLM / LMTools.
• Administer and manage ALM platforms, ideally with experience of PTC products.
• Work with cloud and containerisation technologies such as AWS ECS or equivalent platforms.
• Provide technical support to R&D engineers and resolve BAU/application issues.
• Work with cross-functional technical teams on infrastructure design and project delivery.
• Coordinate suppliers and manage software renewals and associated activities.
• Define and communicate application/product roadmaps aligned with business requirements.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into product requirements and user stories using JIRA.
• Own and prioritise product backlogs.
• Work closely with Product Owners, engineering teams, business stakeholders and other functions.
• Monitor service performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Support CAPEX/OPEX budgeting, purchase orders and financial forecasting.
• Provide out-of-hours support where required for major upgrades and migration activities.

What We're Looking For:

• 6–10 years' relevant experience in application management, technical service management, platform management or a similar role.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of Windows and Linux infrastructure.
• Experience managing business‑critical applications through their full lifecycle.
• Experience with application deployment, upgrades, migrations and disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of cloud and containerisation technologies, ideally AWS/ECS.
• Experience with ALM platforms; PTC experience would be particularly valuable.
• Experience with FlexLM / LMTools or software licensing environments is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure and full‑stack technologies.
• Experience working with R&D, engineering or technical business environments would be advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder, supplier and vendor management skills.
• Experience with JIRA, product backlogs, requirements and roadmaps.
• Exposure to CAPEX/OPEX budgets and financial management.
• Strong project/product management capability.
• Master's degree or equivalent professional experience.
