System Engineer – Reliability & Observability

Optimile in Ghent, Belgium, seeks an Ops Engineer to join our DevOps initiative and improve platform reliability. You will work at the intersection of engineering, operations and product, investigating incidents, building tools and enabling faster resolution for Support and Engineering teams.

You will design monitoring, implement dashboards, runbooks and security triage to reduce recurring issues, while promoting least-privilege access and scalable operations across Europe.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience.
• Professional English proficiency; Dutch is a bonus.
• Strong Python skills are a plus.
• Experience with observability tooling (Grafana/Prometheus/Loki).
• Familiarity with security vulnerability triage (CVEs, dependency risks).
• Experience with AWS services (RDS/S3/ElastiCache/IAM).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and root‑cause focus.
• Clear communication translating technical findings into next steps.

Responsabilités

• Design and improve monitoring, logging and alerting across the platform.
• Build and maintain Grafana dashboards, alert rules and SLO tracking.
• Investigate recurring incidents and systemic issues to root causes and resolution.
• Create and maintain runbooks for operational knowledge sharing.
• Triage security findings and vulnerabilities using tools like Sentry, Aikido, GuardDuty and Inspector.
• Implement and maintain secrets management and least-privilege across environments.
• Build internal tools to help Support resolve issues independently.
• Identify patterns in support requests pointing to product or infra issues.
• Collaborate with engineering and DevOps on reliability improvements.
• Turn incidents and learnings into structural improvements.
