Environmental Defense Fund seeks an Institutional Partnerships Officer to secure and steward 6- to 8-figure awards from institutional funders. You will manage a portfolio, identify opportunities, and guide mission teams on alignment and competitiveness, preparing compelling proposals and donor materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required.
• Minimum of six years of demonstrated success and progressive responsibility in non-profit fundraising, preferably with foundation donors.
• A Master’s degree or equivalent may substitute for up to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Deep knowledge of priorities, trends, and donor requirements in the institutional funding arena.
• Knowledge of environmental issues strongly preferred; ability to quickly grasp and translate complicated subject matter.
• Sound strategic and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Strong planning and project management skills; experience with geographically distributed teams.
• Experience reviewing budgets and financial information in line with donors’ compliance frameworks.
• Ability to travel 10-15% internationally and domestically.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of other languages a plus.
• Proficiency with donor management software (Salesforce) and Microsoft Office.

Responsabilités

• Manage a portfolio of institutional funders and serve as liaison between EDF and funder staff.
• Identify and evaluate funding opportunities and guide Mission teams on alignment and competitiveness.
• Develop and execute donor cultivation plans aligned with EDF’s priorities.
• Prepare compelling proposals, reports, and donor-facing materials with Mission teams and Operations staff.
• Provide strategic talking points and briefing materials for donor interactions.
• Maintain accurate funder and income projections in Salesforce.
