EOLIS GROUP is looking for a freelance Strategic Communications Consultant to support complex transformation initiatives in a large international organisation. The role is based in Brussels with hybrid working (50% on-site) and runs ASAP through end December 2026, 100% employment rate.

You will combine strategic communication, stakeholder management, change communication and project management to translate challenges into clear strategies, and to ensure programmes are effectively implemented

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in strategic communications.
• Proven experience with large-scale communication, transformation or change programmes.
• Strong understanding of business environments and cross-functional thinking.
• Ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders without hierarchical authority.
• Strong project management and coordination skills.
• Ability to bring structure to complex and ambiguous challenges.
• Excellent written and spoken Dutch or French; good professional English.

Responsabilités

• Strategic communication advisory: advise senior stakeholders, translate objectives into integrated communication strategies and activation plans.
• Communication and change programmes: lead large-scale programmes, coordinate multi-channel delivery and drive stakeholder alignment.
• Project and stakeholder management: own projects from strategy to delivery, coordinate workstreams and manage risks.

Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Strategic Communications Consultant to support complex communication, transformation and change initiatives within a large, international organisation.

In this role, you will combine strategic communication, stakeholder management, change communication and project management. You will translate complex business challenges into clear communication strategies, bring stakeholders together around a common narrative and ensure that communication programmes are effectively implemented.

You will operate at the intersection of business and communications, working closely with senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams. Your ability to understand complex environments, create structure and turn strategy into tangible results will be key to your success.

Responsibilities

Strategic communication advisory

• Advise and constructively challenge senior business stakeholders on complex communication challenges.
• Translate business objectives and strategic priorities into integrated communication strategies and concrete communication approaches.
• Develop communication frameworks, key messages, target audience strategies, channel strategies and activation plans.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders and project teams to create alignment, make informed choices and build ownership.
• Identify communication needs, risks and opportunities across different stakeholder groups.

Communication and change programmes

• Lead and coordinate large-scale communication, change and transformation programmes.
• Translate communication strategies into actionable programmes, plans and initiatives.
• Develop and coordinate communication across multiple channels and stakeholder groups.
• Create alignment, engagement and buy-in among senior stakeholders, subject-matter experts and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure communication is consistent with broader business, transformation and organisational objectives.

Project and stakeholder management

• Take ownership of communication projects from strategy through to implementation.
• Coordinate multiple stakeholders and workstreams, often without direct hierarchical authority.
• Manage scope, timelines, dependencies, risks and stakeholder expectations.
• Proactively identify issues and drive solutions to keep projects moving.
• Act as a trusted sparring partner for senior stakeholders while maintaining a strong focus on delivery and results.

Experience & Competences

We are looking for a senior communication professional who combines strategic thinking with strong execution capabilities.

You bring:

• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in strategic communications, corporate communications, change communications, communication consulting or a related field.
• Proven experience with large-scale communication, transformation or change programmes.
• Strong understanding of business environments and the ability to think across organisational functions and departments.
• Demonstrated experience advising and influencing senior stakeholders without relying on hierarchical authority.
• Strong project management and coordination skills.
• The ability to bring structure to complex and ambiguous challenges.
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation and influencing skills.
• A combination of analytical thinking, creativity and pragmatism.
• Strong communication skills and the maturity to operate confidently with senior audiences.
• Resilience, ownership and a hands-on, results-oriented mindset.
• A Master's degree in Communication, Marketing, Business, Economics or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Excellent written and spoken Dutch or French.
• Good professional/business proficiency in English.
