Job summary

DocShifter, a Belgium-based subsidiary of Ennov Group, is seeking a Software Engineer to join our engineering team. You will work across a modern Java + Angular stack, contributing to backend services and frontend features in production.

You will be mentored by senior engineers from day one and gain exposure to the full software lifecycle—from coding and reviews to deployments on Kubernetes and interactions with enterprise clients.

DocShifter, a subsidiary of the Ennov Group, is a Belgium-based enterprise document transformation platform serving regulated industries, primarily pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. Our platform powers document workflows for global companies such as Sandoz, AstraZeneca, Novartis, and Otsuka, using configurable workflows and 55+ transformation modules covering everything from PDF manipulation and OCR to AI-powered translation and regulatory compliance.

We’re a compact engineering team building software that helps some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies manage complex document workflows.

The Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer (mid-level or ambitious junior) to join our engineering team. You will work across a modern Java + Angular stack, contributing to both backend services and frontend features.

This is an excellent growth opportunity. You will be mentored by senior engineers while working on real, production-critical features from day one. Our small team size means you will quickly gain exposure to the full software lifecycle: writing code, reviewing PRs, debugging production issues, deploying to Kubernetes, and interacting with enterprise clients.

What You Will Do

• Develop and maintain backend services in Java and Spring Boot, including REST APIs, data access, and message‑driven processing.
• Build and enhance Angular admin interfaces, including forms, data tables, and real‑time updates.
• Contribute to document processing and transformation modules, including PDF handling and format conversion.
• Manage PostgreSQL database schemas and Liquibase migrations, and write unit and integration tests.
• Participate in code reviews, bug fixing, and CI/CD pipeline maintenance.
• Contribute to security improvements, dependency upgrades, and technical debt reduction while progressively taking ownership of features.

Must‑Have Qualifications

• 1–3 years of software development experience, with a solid foundation in Java and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Basic knowledge of Spring Boot, REST APIs, and web development fundamentals.
• Understanding of relational databases, SQL queries, and data modeling, preferably with PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of Git version control and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and good communication skills in English.

Nice‑to‑Have

• Experience with Angular (14+) or another modern frontend framework (React, Vue).
• Familiarity with Docker and containerization concepts.
• Exposure to CI/CD concepts, including automated builds, test pipelines, and code quality tools.
• Experience writing unit tests (JUnit, Mockito, or similar).
• Basic understanding of message queues or event‑driven architecture.
• Interest in document processing, PDF manipulation, or OCR technologies.
• Interest in AI/LLM technologies and their integration in applications.
• Familiarity with the Linux/macOS command line.
• Personal projects, open‑source contributions, or a technical blog.
