Ennov's DocShifter, a Belgium-based enterprise document transformation platform, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own major parts of the platform—from microservice design to AI-powered processing features.

You will mentor peers, review code, and drive Kubernetes deployments, CI/CD improvements, and enterprise integrations with Veeva Vault, SharePoint, Documentum, and Ennov.

Job description

DocShifter, a subsidiary of the Ennov Group, is a Belgium-based enterprise document transformation platform serving regulated industries, primarily pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. Our platform powers document workflows for global companies such as Sandoz, AstraZeneca, Novartis, and Otsuka, using configurable workflows and 55+ transformation modules covering everything from PDF manipulation and OCR to AI-powered translation and regulatory compliance. We’re a compact engineering team building software that helps some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies manage complex document workflows.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our compact, high-impact engineering team. You will own significant parts of the platform, from designing microservice architectures and building AI-powered document processing features to troubleshooting production issues at enterprise clients.

This is a role where breadth matters as much as depth: in a single sprint you might implement a PDF cross-document hyperlinker, debug a PostgreSQL failover state machine, review a Kubernetes deployment manifest, and mentor a junior engineer on Spring Boot best practices.

What You Will Do

• Design and develop full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, PostgreSQL, and messaging technologies.
• Architect and implement microservices, AI-powered document processing solutions, and document transformation modules.
• Develop and maintain enterprise integrations with Veeva Vault, SharePoint, Documentum, and Ennov.
• Drive cloud-native initiatives, including Kubernetes deployments, containerization, Azure Marketplace packaging, and Terraform infrastructure.
• Lead technical architecture decisions while improving CI/CD pipelines, code quality, application security, and production reliability.
• Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Java development (Java 17+), with strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Security, and Spring Data JPA.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, and third-party system integrations.
• Proven experience with PostgreSQL, including database design, migrations, performance optimization, and high availability.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, including code quality and testing tools.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in complex and distributed environments.
• Proficiency in Git workflows and good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with document processing, including PDF specifications, OCR, content extraction, and format conversion.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM integration in Java applications (LangChain4j, OpenAI API, prompt engineering).
• Frontend experience with Angular (14+) and TypeScript.
• Enterprise Content Management integrations (Ennov Platform, Veeva Vault, SharePoint, Documentum).
• Experience in regulated industries, including pharmaceutical, life sciences, or financial services.
• SAML 2.0 or LDAP authentication implementation experience.
• Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tooling.
• Experience with Aspose libraries (PDF, Words).
