Lalamove is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build and maintain backend features for our User app and APIs. You will design scalable microservices, implement robust APIs, and work with cloud services to support rapid growth.

You should have strong Java backend experience, knowledge of distributed systems, and good communication in English. Join a fast-paced startup environment and contribute to high-impact delivery.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on backend development experience (preferably Java).
• Strong knowledge of backend architecture and scalable APIs.
• Experience with cloud services and microservices.
• Familiarity with Redis/Elasticsearch/Kafka/RabbitMQ is a plus.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication.

As a Software Engineer - Backend, you'll primarily be developing and maintaining features for our User app and its relevant APIs. In this role, you will be the backbone to every product; optimizing new and existing algorithms that make our operations run smoothly. You will design, implement, and launch scalable systems to build new products, features, and services as well as improve existing ones. As Lalamove continues its rapid expansion, our products must be able to support the growth coming from our users, drivers, and orders.

• Ability to learn quickly: you will have the ability to learn new technology and frameworks to support the company’s growth
• Detail-oriented: while detail usually relates to frontend, detail is equally important, if not more important on the backend. As our systems must be scalable, the ease of scaling and expanding is heavily determined by the backend
• Ability to juggle many tasks: the ability to multitask and stay organized is a necessity at our company, all while making sure that new features and updates are rolled out in a timely manner
• Strong communicator: as a backend developer, it is of great importance to communicate frequently to everyone on the tech team to inform them of updates or changes.

AI enablment: you are familiar with modern developer workflows (including AI assistants) and place a strong emphasis on thoroughly understanding, testing, and verifying the code you ship.

What you'll need:

• 2+ years hand-on experience in Backend development (Preferably in Java) with University graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields
• Sound Knowledge of middlewares such as Redis/ElasticSearch/Kafka/RabbitMQ will be an advantage
• Solid experience in building backend microservices and APIs
• Experience in MySQL
• Have experience/exposure to cloud services (AWS)
• Be flexible, grow, and learn quickly in a startup environment
• Good team player, self-motivated and able to work independently
• Good communication of written and spoken English
