Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking a senior System Engineer to lead complex ICT infrastructure projects in a hybrid setup based in Bruges. You will manage datacom equipment, virtualization, storage, and DR strategies while advising on cloud and XaaS architectures.

Strong security monitoring and ITIL process optimization are key parts of the role. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in data centers, networking, and security, with Dutch as a native language and professional English.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in system engineering and infrastructure management.
• 5+ years TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, Routing/Switching.
• 5+ years firewall and network security monitoring.
• 5+ years VMware and data center virtualization.
• 5+ years SAN/NAS storage management and backups.
• 3+ years advisory for Cloud/XaaS systems.
• 3+ years conceptual ICT architecture design.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes including problem and change management.
• Dutch native with professional English proficiency.

• Configure and manage complex datacom equipment, including routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
• Monitor and improve network security through the management of intrusion detection and antimalware systems.
• Maintain a segmented hybrid network environment, covering both wired and wireless infrastructure.
• Manage data center operations focusing on virtualization, storage, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Provide strategic advice on cloud and XaaS systems while designing sustainable ICT architecture solutions.
• Solve complex technical incidents and optimize ITIL processes, specifically problem and change management.

Requirements

• You have 8+ years of experience in system engineering and infrastructure management.
• You possess 5+ years of experience with TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, and Routing/Switching.
• You bring 5+ years of experience in Firewalls and network security monitoring.
• You have 5+ years of experience with VMware and data center virtualization technologies.
• You possess 5+ years of experience in SAN/NAS storage management and backup solutions.
• You bring 3+ years of experience in advisory for Cloud and XaaS systems.
• You have 3+ years of experience in conceptual design for ICT Architecture.
• You possess knowledge of ITIL processes, including problem and change management.
• You are native in Dutch with professional working proficiency in English.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with Azure.
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server.
• Experience with VoIP, SIP, and PoE.
