In4Matic is seeking an experienced infrastructure specialist to manage hybrid ICT operations with a strong focus on datacenter activities, networking and security.

You will lead network configuration, security hardening, and datacenter provisioning while advising on new technologies. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external partners, and involves proof-of-concept work and ITIL-aligned processes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage and configure network equipment including routers, switches, load balancers and firewalls.

• Support datacenter operations: virtualization, backup, restore, replication, disaster recovery.
• Advise on cloud/XaaS solutions and define sustainable ICT architecture.
• Join installations and planned maintenance during monthly windows.
• Collaborate with internal ICT and guide external installers/suppliers.
• Prepare proof-of-concepts for new solutions and resolve incidents.
• Monitor performance, capacity planning and maintain documentation.

Our client is looking for an experienced infrastructure specialist to support the technical management of a hybrid ICT environment, with a strong focus on datacenter operations, networking, and security. In this role, you will help shape robust and sustainable infrastructure solutions, advise on new technologies, and work closely with both internal specialists and external partners to ensure a stable and secure ICT landscape.

Responsibilities

You will take ownership of a broad range of operational and advisory tasks within the infrastructure domain, including:

• Managing and configuring network equipment such as routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
• Overseeing network security and supporting its continuous improvement.
• Administering segmented networks on both internal and provider sides, including wired, wireless, and VPN access.
• Supporting datacenter operations across compute and storage environments, including virtualization, backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery.
• Advising on cloud and XaaS solutions and helping define sustainable ICT architecture.
• Executing or supporting installations and planned maintenance during monthly maintenance windows.
• Collaborating with internal ICT colleagues and guiding external installers and suppliers where needed.
• Preparing and supporting proof-of-concepts for new solutions under consideration.
• Resolving complex incidents, problems, and changes.
• Monitoring infrastructure performance, capacity, and planning needs.
• Maintaining documentation, processes, and system records for the components under your responsibility.
• Following and improving ITIL processes such as problem management and change management.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, L2/L3 switching and routing, VLANs, BGP, and VRRP.
• Experience with LDAP, Radius, and Tacacs.
• Knowledge of VoIP, SIP, and PoE.
• Advanced understanding of cyber security and firewall administration.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and datacenter storage solutions, including NAS and SAN.
• Understanding of backup, restore, replication, and business continuity concepts.
• Knowledge of Windows Server and VMware environments.
• Nice to have: experience with Azure and MS SQL Server.
• Basic familiarity with ITIL processes is expected.

Profile

• At least 3 years of demonstrable experience advising on cloud and XaaS systems.
• At least 3 years of experience designing sustainable ICT architecture solutions.
• At least 3 years of experience executing installations and planned maintenance activities during maintenance windows.
• Experience collaborating with internal ICT teams and coordinating external installers or vendors.
• At least 3 years of experience leading or supporting proof-of-concepts for new solutions.
• Ability to analyse incidents and problems, identify root causes, and drive effective follow-up.
• Strong documentation skills and a structured approach to process management.

Practical Information

This is a full-time assignment based in Bruges.

• Language requirements: fluent Dutch and professional working proficiency in English.
